For some it’s a labour of love and they can’t wait to spend hours weeding, pruning, digging and just pottering about amongst the plants! I am currently though just looking at my garden and seeing jobs!
In particular my living roof, which is just starting to show the signs of springing back into life.
For those of you with a living roof this blog is for you!
My spring jobs for my roof consist of getting onto it first to see what damage the winter has done and removing any dead weeds that I can see. Any bare patches may need re-planting or seeding. Whilst I am up there I check any parts of my rubber roof that I can see for any damage and give my roof lights a much-needed wash. Finally I give my roof a treat to kick start it’s growing period. I have found that the things that living roofs like the most are organic Chicken Poo Pellets.
These can easily be found in any garden center and I have sometimes found that they cam be on buy one get one free! Be generous with it. On my roof, which is about 20 square meters I will use up two boxes. This will then make your roof happy for the rest of spring and summer and will mean that your roof is strong and healthy as it goes into the darkest depths of winter again!
